I'm smiling here...but there is really very little reason to celebrate. I went to check out a new consultant today (as I have given up on retightening it myself) and half way through my hair I really feel like screaming. First of all, the sister did not even use sisterlock tools. She retightened my hair using a latch-hook! Okay, I know its the technique itself that makes Sisterlocks Sisterlocks. But, I am quite disappointed about how my hair has turned out. I questioned her use of the latch-hook and she explained that it does less snagging than the SL tools.
She combined about half in the lower back so far and even cut a few off that she said were too large. I'm going to let her finish it up as I must have my hair finished before my Christmas vacation, but I am a little scared. Y'all pray for me on this one, I'll keep you posted!

This doesn't like good news. If you're paying someone to do your hair, she or he should do what you prefer, and not take a scissor your hair without your permission. I've had some locks combined, but my hairdresser shows me what she's doing *first.*
I second Tra's idea to post to LockItUp to get more advice.
Question? Being that she used a latch hook on your sisterlock will the cause a problem later on during the locking process?

It should not as the same SL pattern was used. The Latch-hook is just another tool by which to do retightenings, just as some use the Nappylocs tools or crochet tools instead of the SL tools.

I just found your blog. While you can use a latch hook and maintain the pattern of your locks, it will no doubt change the tension in your locks which will lead to breakage. And you do not have to cut locks off to combine them...in fact, you shouldn't. Sounds like she's trying to save herself some work...Sorry.
